I always think it’s lovely to see, sports people doing the sign of the cross, to me it shows, a nice heart, from a nice gesture. They are not been boastful or pushy, just a nice meaningful prayer from the heart.
In contrast, I am not keen on some other famous people, sports person or not, who are surrounded my, “Yes people,” Who get paid to do as they are told.
While rich and alive, they are not in the real world, anymore. So, they say, “I am a Christian,” Or “I want to thank Jesus Christ, for helping me with this win or my success.”
It all seems good, until they are either talking at the point of winning or later doing interviews, when we see another side to them.
For them, they will hear those four little words, “I never knew you.”
Matthew 7:23 New Living Translation (NLT) 23 But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’
Matthew Henry's commentary states this about Matthew 7:23, " I never knew you; "I never owned you as my servants, no, not when you prophesied in my name, when you were in the height of your profession, and were most extolled."
On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of law“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
