A Million Pounds.

If you had shown me a photo and asked me to study it close-up and asked me to say, “Who is it, for one million pounds?”
I had just arrived in my local supermarket with my trolley for a quick shop before I went to work, when suddenly a woman next to me said, “Hello Maxine,” I turned to look at her, and I did not know her from Adam! I said, to her, “You clearly know me, but I don’t know who you are.” She replied, “It’s me Dawn,” It was then that I recognised the voice, and I said, “As in Dawn Brown?” She said, “Yes.”
I stopped in my tracks, and looked her in the face, for I still could not believe who I was looking at or talking to, I was speechless! I looked at her and said, “Are you ill?” There was no messing about from me, for the Dawn I had known, did not look like the person I was looking at!
She replied, “No I am not ill,” I responded, by looking at her up and down, with my mouth open, in disbelief.
So, the Dawn I had known for ten years, she had long straight beautiful blond hair to her waist, and was twenty to twenty-five stone. She had a round face, a round body and plump legs. The woman before me had brown short hair, slim narrow face, slim body, and very skinny legs, and looked about seven stone, wringing wet! No wonder I had to ask her, “Are you ill?”
Dawn then explained, “When you knew me, I was on steroids, for my health, then some years ago, I came off them and then the weight came off with it.”
She told me her age, and I told her mine, we were shocked at each other’s ages, for I am eleven years older than she is. We talked about her kids and mine, as we updated on their lives briefly. I had asked her, “Have people walked past you in the street and not know it’s you?” Dawn said, “All the time.” Ten minutes later we went our separate ways.
I was still in shocked, if anyone has shown me a large photo of her face and body and had asked me to, “Tell me who this is, and I will give you, one million pounds,” In a million years, I would never ever have guessed, it was Dawn.
I wish her well, and her husband and kids.
