Happy Song

Sleepy town, plump and content in old age
Breeze blowing crisp carpet of leaves
Where one happy day merges into the next
No pressures nor worries to interrupt serenity.
Rolling hills stretch far into sunset dusk
Reaching up and kissing the sky
All around softly-glowing embers
Of another sun-kissed day goodbye.
Heed these words of this happy song
Before all the truth is drained and gone
Another NewClear green day
Where an old man rests his leg on a stool
Which he found outside his best friends house
Who left this place the night before
A dog runs through empty streets
Leaving trail of dark-red stain behind
The cold and dust now smothers this place
Most buildings are rubble, most faces blank gaze at sky
Heed my words of this happy song
It could become this before too long
