This Time

This time I'll take you on
And shatter your own little world
This time I'll wipe my feet
On towels lining floors

This time I'll take you down
And rock the capital square
This time I'll tie your shoes
Into knots and watch you stumble

This time I'll shout right back
And you'll cry and wish you hadn't
This time I'll hold the door
For those who have held mine

This time I'll argue mine
And I'll suck you into life
This time I'll pull you down
From the world that's giving you crowns

This time I'll lie to you
And give you the resulting mire
This time I'll cook your tea
With your special magical fire

This time I'll snap your wand
Into rulers and wooden frowns
This time I'll throw your crowns
Into puddles that are shallow and brown

LOVE THIS! Wow, there seems to be an explosion of amazing poetry recently on abctales (not that it was bad before- it just seems that every author is submitting something exceptional this week) and this piece is an example of that explosion ;-) The repetition is very effective and the imagery is really good. I find it interesting that you chose not to capitalise "i'll" in this poem, but to be perfectly honest with you, I don't quite understand why you did that. Perhaps an explanation will help?

Another wonderful read. Well done.

Nathan.
