B- Things we do not talk about

There are things we do not talk about,
That I'd like to air tonight.
Some of them come quickly,
Some put up a fight.
One thing about all of them,
They're getting very old,
Twenty, fifty, hundred years,
Their stories are untold.
Here's a thing to talk about,
A stone between you and I.
You're always honest Joe to me,
While I prefer to lie.
I've carried all these secrets
Since I was standing five.
Dark rooms and understandings
Bury you alive.
There are things we do not talk about.
I'm fighting fire with fire.
I have the ammunition,
Just need to find a buyer.
Any offers can be muted,
Deals can be undone.
Bid high, aim low,
Poker faces everyone.
There's nothing more to shout about.
I'm paid to keep it quiet.
Kissed and told you everything
A mumbled mum-hum diet.
But, when all the din is done,
And you and I retire,
We'll sing it from the rafters
From the back of that dumb choir.
