a wedding song

from the ABC set a moondance

_
i love you more than madness dear
i love you more than light
i love you more than riches
i love you more than might
-
i love you more than air i love you more than breath
oh i love you more than mercy more than mercy more than rain
-
you quenched a thirst
it scorched me to the soul
gave me silks and satins paid my weight in gold
-
my thoughts of you they never rest they'll kill me when i lie
my trust is steadfast it's a rock
my faith in you can never die

-
oh darling do you see
i was born to be at your side
i was born to be with you i was born to be your bride
-
you're the other half of what i am i'm the other piece
and i love you more than ever my love will never cease
-
forever darling my soul to yours will cling
my charms will win your heart my faith will buy your ring

-
i love you more than fountains more than life
eye for eye tooth for tooth your truth cuts like a knife
-
you drowned my sorrows drowned my fears
drowned my pain in my father's tears
-
you freed my soul forsaken a prisoner of the mud
happiness to me is you i love you more than blood
- -
oh i love you more than dreams and rainbows on the sea
i love you more than hope itself you are the life that flows in me

Nolan: Nice to see another ABCTales.com writer. Welcome. Your poem is beautiful. Such an endearing love. Nice words: "I was born to be at your side." My wife, Esther and I, are married almost 35 wonderful years. Richard LP

Nolan | July 23, 2009 - 20:22

Thank you Richard! I envy such a successful marriage you have been blessed, I too, unmarried as yet. The Book of Esther reminds me of these words, "The strength of a woman is in her beauty, the beauty of a man is in his strength." You have a terrific amount of fiction on your site, do you perhaps list your favourite poems somewhere?

Hello Nolan, All of our work is special. They are our babies. Thank you for your nice words. Cheers. Richard and Esther.

New Nolan Welcome to Abctales
I entirely agree with Richard but all
marriages have to be worked at most of
all be treated equal then can deal
with everything else age immaterial.

I like how it is all romantically
expected of each yes! I too envy Richard
we have done 37 difficult years.
So keep up the good work.

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep

From the mountains of faith
Through the valley of fear
Through the desert of truth
Through the jungle of doubt

To a river so deep

I'm looking for something
Something sacred I’d lost

I know, it always looks better on paper. I think you should maybe go and see the doctor about your memory and that I think you're losing it.

Bye-bye love!
Bye-bye happiness
Hello loneliness
I think I'm gonna cry!

Bye-bye sweetcaress!
Hello emptiness
I feel like a-I could die!
Bye-bye my love goodbye

I'm through with romance
I'm a-through with love
I'm through with countin’
The stars above

And here's the reason that I'm so free!
My loving baby is through with me!

Sweet dreams my love bye-bye!

Nolan | October 6, 2009 - 22:28

Come back! Baby come back!

This is the first time until today
That you have run away
I'm asking you for the first time
Love me come back!!

Hey yeah! Come back!
Baby come back!!

Come back baby don't you leave me
Come back!

Please don't go come back!!
Oh won't you please come back!

Nolan | April 11, 2010 - 23:21

Love is everywhere, I see it
You are all that you can be, go on and be it
Life is perfect, I believe it
Come and play the game with me!

Open yourself to the first celebration
Open your eyes to the joy and pain
Life is the fruit of your own creation
Every new birth is a soul regained

Drinkin’ my life from a silver fountain
Sweetwater running to the cold salt sea
Old man moon on a white-top mountain
Sound of the wind singin’ dreams for me

Follow your heart like a flying stallion
Race with the sun to the edge of night
Form your truth like a gold medallion
Dance in the circle of the love and the light!

Step we gaily on we go
Heel and heel
And toe for toe
Arm and arm
And row and row
All for Marie's wedding

Over hillways up and down
Myrtle green and bracken brown
Past the sheilings through the town
All for the sake of Marie

Red her cheeks as Rowan's are
Bright her eyes as any star
Fairest of them all by far
Is our darlin' Marie

Step we gaily on we go
Heel and heel
And toe for toe
Arm and arm
And row and row
All for Marie's wedding

Plenty herring plenty meal
Plenty peat to fill her kreel
Plenty bonnie bairns as well
That's the toast for Marie!

God would like us to be joyful
Even when our hearts lie panting on the floor
How much more can we be joyful
When there's really something
To be joyful for!

Sabbath Prayer

May the Lord protect and defend you
May He always shield you from shame
May you come to be
In Israel a shining name

May you be like Ruth and like Esther
May you be deserving of praise
Strengthen them, Oh Lord
And keep them from the strangers' ways

May God bless you
And grant you long life

May the Lord protect and defend you
May the Lord preserve you from pain
Favour them, Oh Lord
With happiness and peace
Oh hear our Sabbath prayer

Amen

New Nolan
"The Wedding Song" you have done.
Is beautiful the words get to me.
And the songs after, Our's was a
registry then, and onto dance, played
"Puppy Love". But one youi mentioned
"Bye Bye Love". A friend of few years
too many memories.
"Happiness Happiness"
had more of my share of happiness?
I don't need money
I don't need gold
More of my share of happiness.
Nice isn't it.
Did you have alove once, by your
poems I think you may have.

If I were a rich man!
Daidle deedle daidle
Digguh digguh deedle daidle dum
All day long I'd biddy biddy bum
If I were a wealthy man!
$
I'd build a big tall house with rooms by the dozen
Right in the middle of the town
A fine tin roof with real wooden floors below
There would be one small staircase just going up
And one even longer coming down
And one more leading nowhere just for show!
$
I see my wife, my Golde
looking like a rich man's wife
With a proper double chin
Supervising meals to her heart's delight
I see her putting on airs and strutting like a peacock
Oh what a happy mood she's in!
Screaming at the servants day and night
$
I wouldn't have to work hard
Daidle deedle daidle
Digguh digguh deedle daidle dum
If I were a biddy biddy rich!
Digguh digguh deedle daidle man
$
Lord who made the lion and the lamb
You decreed I should be what I am
Would it spoil some vast eternal plan
If I were a wealthy man?

May God be with you and bless you
May you see your children's children
May you be poor in misfortunes
And rich in blessings
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward ”
