Alone

Loneliness, my friend
you never judge me
but take me as I am
and in your quiet arms
I'll rest and allow
the fire of me
to slowly die.
I did so seek peace
amidst the crowd,
but as I stand and watch,
as in equal terms,
they share their misery
and their joy,
but seldom I find myself
offered any part.
Alone, I am but not
just the misfit in the crowd
Never quite reaching
what they want,
or facing their true
distain of rival bigotry.
They didn't see me enter
nor did they see me leave,
and if they did,
they just chose
not to notice.
Faced by their silence
I had no choice but go.
Faced by their censor
I left not in haste.
No one remarked,
that I had gone.
No one called out my name.
For no friendship was made
that couldn't be broken,
just the emptiness
of what could have been.
Now as a distant voice,
hardly heard,
I cry in the dark
As I water my own pain of indecision
I'm all but lost in one name.
Alone.
