Catching the Fire
The land dips then bounds
across my view
like an éclair, with shades of icing.
First layer accepts an old tractor
parked in rust
secondly, sheep in pasture
a cacophony of sound
followed by a winding outline
of forested silhouettes
lightheaded from Autumn colours.
Somewhere in the green
a fox is watching.

Thank you, Julie. My wife and I had a great time visiting our daughter, on their farm east of Edmonton, Alberta. They raise sheep and dexter cattle and unfortunately the weather was very hot because over the past year the rainfall was extremely poor. This meant poor hay growth and many ponds evaporated. It's good to be back home in Truro, Nova Scotia. Cheers, Richard and Esther
