I Am the Spoon
Sometimes I want to
go to a fish market
and disappear among
the scales
to test the waters of
life
where misfortunes await
me
and circumstances
anoint me
to mock despair
surveying the advantages
of your desires
wanting more than
you are willing to send in my
direction.
I’m the spoon
and you’re the soup.

Excellent piece I'm surprised it hasn't had more of a reaction. This is something I would have been proud to write myself. Superb poetry. Val

Thank you so much, Bradene and Julie. This poem is part of a new breed of writing I am breathing out. Your reactions are very kind. I have been trying for years to get a full book of poetry published, and so far only one chapbook. Unfortunately that publisher is no longer around. Also, I am anxiously awaiting responses to my present 35 submissions, out there. Some of my work has been sitting in their computers, on their desks, or, on their minds for so long, as much as six months to a year. Much too long for me, and thus I have decided to share my work immediately as I complete it. Isn't that what writing is all about? Enjoying and sharing, like a bowl of soup. Yummy. Richard LP

Hello Cavalcaderl, I would like to get a book of poetry published one day. Right now I am putting together 77 poems for one. Then begins the route to attract some attention. In the meantime, it is so nice to read other great writers like yourself on this site, and to share my poems and stories as well. Richard LP
