LADY OF THE DAY poem

from the ABC set POETRY - A Passage of Motion 1

Lady of the Day

She absorbs me with
her eyes and that
usual wave of cheerfulness
almost makes me
fall to my knees in benediction

my thankfulness for
years of encouragement
from the slim lady of
Chinese descent pony
tail and grey-hair bonding

we’re brother and
sister in a march to aging
as we savour a
renewed world of joy
and I must hurry along
in the footsteps of
her harmony.
