Life is an escalation
of memories
one pain at a time,
layers of living.
First a child into
the world comes like
a steam engine
wet and red
eyeballs as saucers
continuing life’s
search into
younger years then
teen time, knowledge
is power
and they hoard it
as a squirrel
with some peanuts.
Older times carry
faces of aging
and joys of grateful
living trapped in
further fond memories.
