Okay to Grow Older

from the ABC set POETRY - A Passage of Motion 2

Not much energy
left these days
when I am
the caboose
with legs once
dancing
and prancing,
now a slow shuffle
leads me to
the dinner table.

I keep testing
my mind
on checkers and
chess with
anyone left to
play,
barely able
to creep
up the stairwell.

The best I can do
is make it to
the bathroom on
time,
an achievement
worth writing about.

Much enjoyed

Thank you so much, Sunday's Child. As I shuffle towards my 69th birthday (yikes) I take pleasure in the very simple accomplishments in life. Writing is such a joy, and thank goodness there is no age limit in this genre. Seriously, the closer I get to 100 the younger I feel. My wife, Esther, agrees. Richard LP ps. thank you AbcTales for the cherry, it is an honour.

A very honest, lighthearted, yet beautiful poem. The ending is perfect. A well deserved cherry!

Nathan.
