Crumpled and stained cleaning
Mildew at tub’s edge
A lone thread hanging low
Threatening to further diminish need
Not long ago its colour was radiant
A Wal-mart special at .29
Excitement joining us as we
Selected from among the cloths
Now used up no longer a prize
To encounter the challenge of wiping
The sink showing absorbance
Still remains---
If only a chance to perform again
Chip particles on the floor or a crust
Mocking from under our table
And daring it to wipe it all away.
