ROSE BAY, NOVA SCOTIA - poem

from the ABC set POETRY - A Passage of Motion 1

Rose Bay, Nova Scotia

Ocean’s froth is gathering
along the shore, winds pushing
foghorn blasts
into the bay, forest’s
silhouette saluting our twin-peaked
cabin, footsteps
in the sand as misty outlines
on the beach
seagulls swooping with
lasting messages
peek-a-boo driftwood on a beach
of seaweed,
clumped in salty disarray.

This area of Nova Scotia once produced veins of gold so rich it was simply hammered away from the surface of the rock. It is now a beautiful tourist area near Lunenburg. RLP
