The sun invades my downy sleep
And cuts through my wishful dreams
It wakes me gently and cruelly
To a room bright with shadows
Where hope still lingers vainly
And love plays gently with remorse
As I lie here restlessly
He once again permeates my mind
And now I know that I can never forget him
Whilst he remains so active and alive here
As he lies so close beside me
As he holds my cold trembling hand
But the room I'm in is empty and lonely
I lie alone in this empty bed
My hand is held by no one
But my love is far from dead
His very essence is captured in the spaces
That his body fails to fill
And I know that whilst I remain here
I will never be alone
