Atheistic flowers are blossoming
watered by the Bastille ink of Voltaire
by the tears of Galileo and Spinoza
by the blood of Marlowe, Thomas Aikenhead,
and myriad other martyrs:
atheistic flowers are blossoming
their garden is growing
filling the civilized fields of Europe
and the harsh terrain of China
finding fertile ground in exotic Buddhist lands,
appearing in brilliant shades
(though surrounded by superstitions
and long-rooted, reactionary weeds)
from Cuba to America to the sands of Africa
the bees of liberalism, learning and science
are spreading their pollen of noble truth
to receptive pistils in the minds of youth
yes, the workers are too few
but the garden of truth is growing,
atheistic flowers are blossoming
in all the colors of humanity
