An Ode to a Pizza Girl

Wretched -
(my muscles aching and tense
my stomach queasy from last night's excess
my psyche caught on a barb-wire fence)
I waited for easy sustenance

The bell rang:
I opened to a raven-haired beauty
with a shapely charm about her,

she put the pizza on the table-
I commented on the fog, which was a little thick-
she said with a charming smile
that it was giving her trouble

With that, she was gone-
but she'd relieved my isolation,
left a reminder of things that had been
and what could be

the expensive extra-toppings were scarce-

but I didn't care
