On Polanski

Yes, he did the deed
and such a deed
as a devil might...
and that only under cloak of night

But no devil is Polanski
and neither human, he,
at least not in the way
of most humanity

He is a genius,
a mortal titan
in the way of Einstein,
Nietzsche,
or Shakespeare

Beneath the mask,
he may be Napoleon
or Voltaire,
Odin
or Rasputin

We cannot know,
so let's not judge him, then;
the law's sword may strike him
and he will fall,
but perhaps he was Atlas:
preserving us all

Leave him to his conscience;
touch him not
nor stand too near;
in him,
there's that to love
and that to fear

Touch him not:
banish the thought.
have you not seen the movies
or have you forgot?

Polanski holds the serpent rod:
psychotic often is the demi-god

This guy was 43 years old when he drugged, raped and sodomised a 13 year old girl ...

I WILL JUDGE !!!

The bastard should have been locked up for life for the lewd and lascivious acts that HE performed on that child ...

As regards comparing him to the likes of Einstein, Nietzsche and Shakespear ...

Well you have lost me !!!

Well, you may not know what I'm talking about but the people of France, for example(one of the world's oldest and most advanced civilizations,) know and agree. Roman Polanski transmits(or transmitted) the vital genius of Shakespeare to the modern world in a way that can only be described as "genius."
Actually, the growing and not shrinking fame of the bard(at this time) has as much to do with him than anything else. As a Shakespeare lover who's watched botched Shakespeare movie after botched Shakespeare movie, I understand how rare Polanski's talent is.

You know, lady, since you put it so passionately, I'll just tell you the truth. I wasn't writing about Polanski at all. I was consciously using him as a metaphor for myself. My conscience isn't exactly lily-white(as that fact reflects,) but I've never done something as intentional and frankly evil as Polanski's crime.
