Rehab Haiku

(the following haiku were written during and/or about my six week stay at "The Treatment Center of Palm Beaches" in Florida.)

my arrival was
rude awakening; salesmen
were quite dishonest

omelette breakfast
sliced fruit plate but no coffee;
conversation calms

the yard surrounded
by diverse palms green and brown;
huddled groups smoking

walking the track. "don't
ask, don't tell" is ended. Black
gecko high on palm

lying in the sun;
the sound of horse-shoes and voices:
soft, old, low, young, loud

needle marks, stories
stark. dark clouds on a blue sky.
not a place for play

five weeks in: the pain
has not improved. All my thoughts
aimed at survival

arrived back home in
Modernia: books,
medicine, net, friends

Hi seannelson,
I do hope you have managed to heal, it's so hard,
but I am sure you will be strong.

You take care.

Jenny.

Thank you kindly Highhat and Jennifer. <]:- ) I'm just reading, taking my time, waiting until I have something really worthwhile to say.
