Steps

from the ABC set They don't mean to, but they do

I stumbled along behind you,
Trying to fit my inadaquate feet
Into the imprints you made.

My whispers trailed behind us,
Thistledown appeals
That only the bees noticed.

Your diminutive doppelganger,
I played out your mannerisms
To empty seats and no applause.

Long strides can shorten,
Journeys circle and turn,
Fairy steps can last forever,
Giants sometimes look down.

That first stanza is pure genius ;) And these lines:

'I played out your mannerisms
To empty seats and no applause.'

- brilliant!
