Just a line to say I miss you;
sorry I can’t be with you,
but that I thought of you
this morning. Hope you’re OK.
It gets kind of lonely here...
only me, and a ‘seen-better-days’
five-string guitar. And that,
surfside, by the highway...
round San Luis Pass, Amaryllis
grow wild, or ‘Naked Ladies’
as the locals call them;
stiletto-heeled – unabashed
and unadorned. Willowy,
proud and regal. Incarnadine lips;
full, ripe – half-pouting, with only
a hint of what they conceal...
for the present, at least, had me
aching to fill my arms with them –
take them home, and impatiently,
wait for them to open; brazen,
brash, and ever so slightly, Rosy.

This is beautiful. The layers and the perfect cadence at the end, I love it :)

So many beautiful descriptions in this piece Tina,
especially love the second stanza, but love it all
as a whole.
Thankyou for the read.

I don't know anybody who can describe something seemingly simple with so many lovely images as you can Tina. You really give things life- such a positive trait- (quirky english- sorry)

Your talent is really showcased in this poem, I agree with Ephraim this poem has lots of lovely layers. If I had to choose my favourite images I'd end up typing out the entire poem, so I'll leave that :)

Hi there, Julie.
Yes, I do have a copy machine, and I'm glad you have one too. They are very useful.
As for the Amaryllis...no - they don't have a scent. It looks as if they should have - the flowers being so big and so beautiful. Unlike roses of course, some of which do have wonderful aromas.
Thank you for sending the sunshine. We have loads of it this morning;-)
