Say – it’s all right for some;
bleedin’ freezin’, that’s me!
You ain’t, are ya mister,
in yer posh limousine?
So! You’ve wound down yer winda.
So there is life on Mars!
Say, what I wouldn’t give
for one of them cars!
Especially right now;
see me shoes ’ave been nicked.
I ’ope them who's pinched ’em,
they don’t soddin’ fit!
Thought I’d get some in Oxfam
but a bloke threw me out
and I weren’t doing nothin’
’cept lighting me snout.
If ya don’t mind me sayin’ –
them’s posh leather shoes.
Must ’ave cost yer a packet;
they still look brand new.
Hey, what’s eatin’ ya mate?
Ain’t ya never seen feet?
Bit grubby, I’ll grant yer,
but they scrub up a treat!
Speaking of which,
me beauty sleep beckons
and this ain’t a bad spot,
Say – what d’ya reckon?
Did you say something guv?
No, I don’t do no crack.
Drugs is a mug’s game,
so I learned a while back.
’Ere, I tell you what mister –
you don’t look so hot;
see, the road that you travel
I already trod. If you paid me
a fortune, I’d ’ave to refuse.
I'd rather go barefoot ...
than walk a mile in your shoes.

Good voice poem.
Probably would go for I'd rather than I would in second last line for consistency of tone.
You work fast. Good. I read fast.
Regards
Ewan

Indeed a good voice poem. Great fun, and it just seems full of life. And must be one of the quickest cherries on record! Nice work. Margot

Love the rhythm and sound patterning in this one Tina - and I bet the cherry pickers agree ;) You're so great at these voice poems, I've never dared to try one before!

You do work fast Tina. I haven't even started thinking about it yet. Mind you, slow or fast you always produce work of the highest quality and this is no exception.

Luigi - you always say the nicest things. I thank you;-)
Mind you, I don't work so fast where housework is concerned. Not very inspiring at the best of times, is it?

Hi Tina.
I like the twist at the end in this one and really liked these verses :
Thought I’d get some in Oxfam
but a bloke threw me out
and I weren’t doing nothin’
’cept lighting me snout.
and
Hey, what’s eatin’ ya mate?
Ain’t ya never seen feet?
Bit grubby, I’ll grant yer,
but they scrub up a treat!
Thanks.

this is unpolished and edgy stuff without any pretense or snobbery and yet has this superiority of quality that many can only dream to achieve .... take a bow!
the last stanza is a clincher!

Rusty - thank you for reading. I really appreciate your comments which are always so much help to us 'would be' writers. I shall make the time later today to read some of your subs and once again thank you for taking an interest in mine;-)

Hi again, Julie. I love that musical, 'Oliver'. They don't write 'em like that any more, unfortunately.
Glad you enjoyed 'your wedding' and as you say, it is just going somewhere together, no matter where, that makes it special.
Have a good day;-)
