The Winter Queen

Winter waltzes upon the earth,
Solstice embroidered upon her skirt,
Heaven's jewels inlay her crown;
Filigree flakes crochet her gown.
In rhinestone slippers with crystal bows,
Dancing on the swirling snows,
The Winter Queen, in grand display,
Sweeps the ground in ice ballet.
Each pristine hill and highland crest,
Shimmering in its wintry best,
Greets its muse with arctic awe,
Seeks her hand 'til springtime thaw.
Opalescent strands of pearls
Enhance her thick and lustrous curls;
Diamonds sparkle at her sleeves,
Adorn her sash of frosted leaves.
Drifting clouds of nature's lace,
Dust the land with powdered grace,
Embellish every tree and hedge,
With rime up to the water's edge.
Sunshine glittering on icy stream,
Reflects the light in mirrored dream,
Snowy kisses from Queen alight,
Blanket earth in downy white.
