Breaking Apart

from the ABC set Relationships

things are breaking
apart: glass shattered, illusions
nude descending the staircase,
alone.

it's not easy to peer,
it's not easy to be calm
when dining out is going out,
when all one's habits
are being compacted by
a tight squeeze.

you want things to be still happy,
immaculate, stoned and lasting.
it's not easy doing a difficult
crossword puzzle, but it helps.

it's not easy at all, it'll never be easy anymore.
it'll never be quite the same.

Well, this one gets my vote; simple language, complex emotions. I reckon it passes Eliot's layer test too.

Well done.
