I've choked on a cherry pit...

I've choked on a cherry pit.....

Insomnia ruled, I lost sleep...
Wanting to write the perfect piece...
Writing, erasing, striking through,
seems the editing never ceased...

Of fairy tales, puppy dog tails
and all of the in-between...
Writers block creeping into me,
worst case of it I've ever seen....

Sunrise came, I knew that it would...
Crumpled papers upon the floor...
Pencil now down to a nubbin'.....
Coffee, black, I began to pour..

A croissant and fruit for breakfast,
delicious plate fit for a queen.....
Cantaloupe, sweet and so juicy,
Bunches of grapes in red and green....

Queen Anne's topped off the ensemble,
to writing I quickly returned....
The fruit as my inspiration...
So eager to share what I'd learned

I wanted to write a masterpiece...
Work the world would never forget,
Instead, in my haste to compose,
Sad, I've choked on a cherry pit~!
