The smell of rain accosts
while ironing soggy bus passes.
Something nice for
more regulated tea times;
hunger not optional!
Re-learning algebra,
(never liked it the first time round).
‘What I did on my
summer holidays.’
God! Don’t tell the truth!
Where are the socks?
I’m supposed to know;
Supposed to know everything!
Christmas shopping
on the television?
Signing sick notes,
for the healthiest being I know.
Detention tomorrow?
They’re back to school;
I’m back to hell!

- brilliant :) I go back to school this friday for year 13 - my last ever year at school!
Good luck with getting the troops organised Chris ;)

I've only got one at home to iron for and feed but that's enough. My heart goes out to you

Great. Loved the harassed atmosphere....and the concealed affection.

Thanks Sarah; sounds like Nirvana. Mind you, when they're all gone (if I ever live to see it) I'll probably be sorry - that's what I keep telling myself.
;)

Cheers chuck; change harassed for 'totally mental' ;)

Portrayed with absolute and painful perfection those nightmare mornings.... thankfully in my dim and distant past. Margot

He-he, thanks Margot ;)

Sorry Magic, missed you out somehow; indicative of how mentally unbalanced I am getting lol.
Wish I was heading back for my 13th year at school. Hope you really enjoy it and fingers crossed for your application for college; they'd be mad not to drag you in by the scruff ;)

nightmare mornings - but with the promise of quiet afterwards - that's the bit I like : )
lovely poem Chris.
ps get them to write their own sicknotes - so much more fun for everyone involved

When they're all gone you don't lose them - they're just bigger and doing other stuff - and you can be proud that you got them there. I don't miss them at all but I do stay in very close touch with them!
And now the youngest has gone back to school - as a teacher - today is her second day - but she has to write her own sick notes and make her own lunch as she doesn't live here any more.

My eldest is in college (2nd year), going back this weekend. He got top 5 in his year and has been offered pure psychology; I advised some self analysis, he is worse than the small ones ;) but at least when he graduates, he can come back and fix at least one of the heads that he has wrecked lol.
