Firstborn

from the ABC set shamrock's ramblings

I look at you slyly;
Sneaking a peak.
I approach you almost shyly,
Unable to speak.

I wonder at genetics;
How is it done?
That out of lustful kinetics,
There came such a one

I recall a youthful plan,
That when age came;
I’d need not, look to any man
For rules of the game.

But life’s not unambiguous
And tangents thrive
And lost is all impiousness,
Now that you’re alive!

Ha! Now I search, beg and crave
I cringe; unsure.
Stranded, beached while the tidal wave
Begins to obscure.

Then suddenly you’re thrown, almost
Tossed to my arms
My fear that was as permafrost,
Thaws; tempers; becalms!

Thanks Rebecca; some moments and occasions in life, simply supersede all others. ;)
