Hello Kathleen, how is your day,
how are you settling in.
Is heaven all you thought it was,
have you met all your kin?
Of course, when I say all, I mean,
except for us down here.
It's strange; you seem so far away
and yet so very near.
The children ask and pray for you,
especially little Pat;
he tends to stay close to his mum,
distracting her with chat.
She thinks about you all the time,
I see it in her eyes.
I try and stay around a lot
and hold her when she cries.
But sometimes, she just needs her space,
I try to give her some.
I know she talks to you at night;
I've heard her whisper...Mum!
It breaks my heart, to see her look
across the garden, whence
she used to watch you at your door
and wave across the the fence.
The eldest – and your favorite – John,
would make so proud, his 'Nan'.
The last few weeks, I've realized;
the boy's become a man!
I know that you don't need our tears
and I don't mean to mope
but really, underneath this shell,
I'm soft as baby soap.
That's really all I've got to say
for now and so, I guess,
I'll leave you, as I often did,
with; bye Nan and God bless!
