Lucy

from the ABC set shamrock's ramblings

http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/music/...

Lucy’s in the sky and the stars are like diamonds.
The kaleidoscope shutters are drawn
Hey, Jude is crying but no one responds;
To the marmalade skies, she has gone.

I read the news, with my head in a cloud
On a taxi that appeared on the shore
Quietly famous, she rests ‘neath a shroud
And is mourned by just two out of four

The rocking horse people bring cellophane flowers
The plasticine porters wear black
And the tangerine trees under marshmallow showers
All know that she will not be back

Good remembrance, Chris. So sad she never got to be proud of the fact she was the inspiration for such a famous song. All of this because some fool decided to take an innocent song and make it about drugs. Shame.

Yes, sad news she died so young but what a poignant tribute to her. You have a deceptively easy rhythmic style, laden with subtext but always in context which I greatly enjoy.
Deserves a cherry Mr Cook....

Amazing. This really captures the 'story' of Lucy. I really think this is one of your most touching poems. Well done.

I don't know how I missed this one Chris. It's so beautiful and moving, one of your best, for me. A well deserved cherry :)

I especially loved;
"The rocking horse people bring cellophane flowers
The plasticine porters wear black
And the tangerine trees under marshmallow showers
All know that she will not be back."
