Teacher Man

from the ABC set shamrock's ramblings

The teacher man’s gone home,
His mission here is done;
His ashes will whirl in the minds
of those who sought enlightenment.
Do not close the book
for the story is still alive
and will live forever;
only the writer has departed.
The teacher man’s gone home.

Excellent, Chris, as are McCourt's novels. Some books you know you'll never read again, but his are on my shelves knowing they'll be re-read before too long.

Me too Whiskey, just started reading 'Teacher Man' again. He was a nice human being, who genuinely cared and according to former students, he was a revelation in the class room. From humble beginnings in the Limerick slums..... R.I.P.

He was an extraordinary writer. I will be getting Angela's Ashes off the shelf today. A lovely tribute.

Read all the books, but never got to see the film. Excellent little tribute to a gifted writer. Val x

Thanks Sarah, and Val. He was 78years; thought he was younger than that, he certainly looked younger.
