when a challenge arises
which would be greater:
her red rubied thoughts or
the thrown down gauntlet?
a silent, circling predator
in the guise of a quiet, shy girl.
quietly as she departs,
she retrieves the bloodied gauntlet,
and slips not only her ruby thoughts
quietly within but her
diamond, emerald and sapphire
thoughts also;
finally glancing to
her beguiling handkerchief.
