Through right lense and left lense,
I saw rockets ascend,
then fountains of sapphire
and emerald and gold.
Then round your pupil reeled
a bright catherine wheel
and your radiant breath
condensed against the cold.

Compact but creative! I love the use of colour in this one - I can see those fireworks now :)

Thanks, Magic. That's the influence of Gustav Klimt and his use of gold and opulence in his paintings. I wanted a poem that was visual and like a painting but not a realistic painting; something more like an Art Nouveau painting where everything is exaggerated and stylized.
Also, I wanted the fireworks to be seen as a reflection in someones eyes so as to say, "I'd rather look at you than the fireworks".
