Snow Kisses (IP)

from the ABC set Stories

“Let’s play snow kisses!”, said the little girl to the little boy, giggling into her woolen, winter mittens.

“Snow kisses?”, asked the little boy, his eyes lighting up with the thought that he might get a kiss.

“Yes”, said the little girl, “Now, close your eyes and pucker up your lips”.

The little boy did as he was told, closing his eyes tightly and dreaming of that kiss as he leant forward and puckered his lips.

Then, suddenly, the little girl reached down and gathered up some snow from the playground, rolling up a big snowball between her mittens and, taking aim, she pushed the snowball into the little boys face like a custard pie in an old silent movie and then she and all the other little girls round about started to laugh at how silly the boy looked with snow all over his face.

“Why d’you do that?”, asked the little boy, starting to cry, his tears mixing in with the melting snow on his face.

“Because you’ll get snow kisses from me! Snow way!”, laughed the little girl.

That is when the little boy realized that little girls can be very cruel.

Thankyou, Pia. I intended it to be a sort of Charlie Brown/Peanuts kind of story. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
