Spring Stratagems

from the ABC set The Earthlove Collection

Bindweed moves by night;
Creeping up on chainlink
And white queen kisses
Capture diamond spaces.

Raindrops play Go games
Upon spiderweb grids;
Then rainclouds reveal
April’s hidden armies.

Spring is conqueress Yin;
The living “Art Of War”;
Her life force bursting forth
In battle yells of colour.

The silk worm of the earth
Spins her emerald banner.
She takes brutal winter’s
Cold encampment by surprise.

Sun drums the horizon
As the jade empress advances
On chariot wheels of time;
Her sun blades chime.

The dandelion sage
Shatters yang of asphalt;
Her meditating head
Scatters seeds like moonlight.

Blackbird wrestles worm
Of silence with her song
And, poem slow,
The liberated earth
Captures my heart.

Thanks for sharing.Spring is such a wonderful time of year. I think that all the spring flowers are either yellow or white- well the majority anyway.
I really loved this poem well-wisher. Beautiful imagery and love the Yin Yang of it.

Thankyou, pia. I do love Spring; it is like hope and joy incarnate with all its colour and warmth and life returning after winter.

I also like Tao-ism and Zen Buddhism and see alot of truth and wisdom in them and that influenced my poem too.

Happy you enjoyed my poem.

more dandelions. It's got to be good. Lovely images, really enjoyed.

Thankyou, Maggyvaneijk. I'm really glad that you like the imagery. I was very much influenced by the artist Alphonse Mucha and his personifications
of the different seasons as women.

Thanks, Celticman. Dandelions are one of my favourite flowers, mainly because they are
like 'urban warriors' breaking through the
concrete and helping beauty to survive in
the urban gloom.

The dandelions are based on the ones in my garden.

Also, I saw the bindweed growing and weaving its way through a chainlink fence near my house and bindweed does have beautiful white flowers.
