I stand beside the Tree where Adam stood,
and watch the infants running in the blood
that trickles down from buildings wracked by bombs
which rendered them to crippled grisly tombs.
From Ninevah no quinqueremes now sail,
but Bradley tanks emit their deadly hail.
Tigris and Euphrates have been bridged.
The Infidels are massed along the ridge.
The flames of war are burning in the bush
The borders between good and bad are blurred.
We search for food within the cease-fire hush,
or stay at home and trust no stranger's word.
