Check mating

from the ABC set Yutka's poems

And higher grew their shadows' pawns between them.
Yet trustingly she gripped his hands and all.
And what was unpredicted, unforeseen
stood like a pattern of a chessboard screen,
that filled all eagerly a white-washed wall
with speckled darkness. Both could not escape
what lay in waiting. Love, they understood.
Ignoring all the dangers of check-mating
he pushed his manhood deep into her blood.
And while he wanted more and more and more,
alluding to the laid-out metaphor,
he stated that his game was pretty good.
