Bluffer's Guide

from the ABC set Unordered Tales

If he toys with the corners of his cards
(cards are designed with rounded corners
to prevent dog-earring)
it means he has slept with your wife.

If he stacks his chips in neat ranks
and/or cups his palm around
and/or over them, he's telling you
they tussled drunkenly by the coat rack
then instantly regretted it.

If he blows smoke up,
he pulled her pubic hair out in clumps;

if he snorts like a bull,
he found a lump in her breast;

if he puffs rings or double-helixes or swooping plovers,
she laughed whilst going down on him,
because his comment about lusty schoolgirls
reminded her of you.

If he tugs at his cuff,
raise aggressively - he's remembered
the cufflinks he left in your lounge.

If he tightens his belt,
tighten your smile and fold - he is reliving
the evening when she slipped
banknote after crimped, prim banknote
into the band
of his roomy briefs.
