Redundancy

Feeling a little less
A little less of what I was
As if a limb is lost
As if my shadow too has faded
To think a piece of paper
At the end of a month
Had so much power
Power to give me the veneer
Of attitude, knowledge, happiness
A desire to shop,
A desire to want more
And now that its gone
I feel I can get by with nothing
Demands shrink
As if nothing matters,
As if not deserving anymore
A sense of worth tied to this
Monthly piece of paper
To all the people I once knew
The people I spent the greater
part of the day with
whether I liked them or not
But now with that gone
Time also is unused
Drifting like some seaweed
Unnecessary shrivelled
When the chains are gone
Freedom has no meaning anymore

Wow. I like this very much. I will have to read it again.

Now then I have read it again. And it's better this time, which is amazing because it was superb the first time.

My main comment was to be about liberation, nihilism and self mastery, but I am brought up short with the last line. I suppose that's why I am so enamoured by the whole. Well done and thanks for sharing.

I like this very much. Also, very fitting in this era of change, where we're rethinking our way in the world.
