I’m riddled;
with confusion,
with desire,
with tension,
with doubt,
with dissatisfaction,
with inaction,
with obsequious intention,
and with failure.
I’m barren;
without love,
without time,
without humour,
without guidance,
without gravity,
without light,
and without warmth.
This life,
this confusing biology,
doesn’t get any easier
despite the amount
of time I spend
trying to decipher it.
I’ve yet to find
the decryption key,
the one piece of information
to unlock the mystery.
I’m riddled.
I’m barren.
But don’t give it a second thought;
at least I’m still here.

I have a teenage son so I am very much on my toes as to how a teenager feels and it can be very difficult for them at times. I just loved this poem Dynamaso. I think you have captured quite a bit of the uncertainty they feel about the world and the feeling of responsibilty weighing so heavy on their beautiful shoulders.
Sorry for rambling

Pia, thanks so much for your considered comment. Just so you know, I'm pretty mucht the opposite of this piece - an optimist by heart and nature. But I have a number of teenage nephews (and once was one myself, many years ago) so am in familiar territory.
And for future note, you're more than welcome to ramble away. I really don't mind :)

very easy to understand & well put.

My own teenage son doesn't believe in stereotypes, but that's because he's become one. Hope you find that decryption key, and share it.

Hey Maisie, thanks very much. It is very much a case of 'I wish I knew then what I know now'-ism, me thinks.

Pesky, if I find the decryption key, I'll patent the bloody thing and make a fortune!
