1000 words

I was thinking of stealing a painting. The motive captures such a large part of me. It would be nice to have it hanging on the wall.Only thing is it is in the museum of french impressionists from way back when.
You see, I can't paint.A picture says 1000 words.True?
If I could paint I'd paint the canal with barges, small boats and sailing ships as it has looked the past 100 years .
The incredible light between the houses and wharves and at the same time the forboding atmosphere of age and time gone by when you couldn't just take a bath when it suited you and your shoes wore the cobblestones all nicely polished and roundish. All sorts of different smells and scents from the bustling crowd along the waterway. Heavy long skirts almost dragging along the pavement;sweaty shirts and blouses; perfume and powder to cover-up the stench of sweat and body-odour; barrows and horse-carts;cars and traffic-lights;buses and petrol emissions;people hurrying to catch time; Mothers and Fathers with babies in prams and quite a few bicycles, jambling along.
I wish you could see the painting.

I like this too - and it's kind of a painting in words that you've made, if you see what I mean

Thanks all- yes secretly I did try to paint it in words. Just couldn't reach the 1000 word mark- ;-) pia

You paint a lovely picture with the words, I don't need to see the painting, I have it in my head. Thanks for the time-travel trip. K :)

That painting was definetly captured, in your description. I bet it would have looked great on your
wall.
Jenny.

Lovely idea this - and better than a painting for me because it leaves evokes more senses and leaves so much more mystery.

ah there you are again. Great-I rather liked this piece myself. I used to live in the neighbourhood and it was a really old part of Copenhagen. I used to imagine I lived in olden days.
Thanks for stopping by BB- really nice of you
;)Pia
