She lies in bed, not wanting to get up. Her limbs are like rubber and her view is dimmed. The morning coffee helps. 3 cups and one hour has passed. She feels her body coming a little alive but the days chores are almost insurpassable. So she creeps back into bed, crying. Her home is clean and the dishes have been done, all this she has accomplished but today is yet another of these days where even the shopping seems so hard to overcome. No food in the house, no milk for her coffee.
She wonders what the matter is. She could go for a lovely walk on the moor and take some pictures with her new camera but she can't get her feet to move. There are so many but's and a few if's. If she went for a walk she would feel much better but she can't.
So she lies in her bed or she sits in her rocking chair,knitting. When her son comes by she can be quite sociable. She doesn't even go down the stairs to empty the mailbox because she would then have to take the 2 flights up again.
She wonders if anything is the matter. She wonders if she is ill.She thinks that it is all psychological so she decides to get an appointment with her doctor. She just can't stand it anymore.
She looks at the sky; grey clouds are cumulating and she thinks that it would be her luck if it started to rain.
She is going to go for a walk to see if she can find a miracle cure for her apathy!

Don't give her a bad conscience ;) Today may be a better day for her. Maybe it was an off day? Age takes its toll on everyone ;/
Highhat | August 27, 2010 - 16:02

darkenwolf | August 27, 2010 - 16:29

;}
Highhat | August 27, 2010 - 16:32
My fault- you wrote the story and got the blasted cherries. I didn't!;)
darkenwolf | August 27, 2010 - 16:34
well it isn't like i stole them - they were given after all ;}
Highhat | August 27, 2010 - 16:42
Aw I saw you at the editor's desk looking in the fruitbowl- come on admit it- my nails need cleaning- bye bye and every time I hit "track" it counts for reads on my own story- not sooo good !
darkenwolf | August 27, 2010 - 16:56
shhhh!!! don't tell everyone! They'll start a lynch mob - you wouldn't do that to me would you?
Is that the secret then? ;D
Highhat | August 27, 2010 - 17:25
That is the secret- my secret of course. we will have to blow the whistle when we are about to hit the 10 most read mark though- ha ha ;) your stories as well- equality here ;D maybe I should give a new piece a chance ?
darkenwolf | August 27, 2010 - 17:48
Plump the figures first, if anyone asks we'll say we didn't realise,err that it wasn't us it was all our relatives using our computer. No honestly i come from a big family. Do you think they'll believe about five thousand?
;}
Write your piece though, looking forward to it.
Highhat | August 27, 2010 - 17:57
My family is huge if you include all the dogs and cats and guinea pigs and I think there is a farmer somewhere. . . err ;) I will now write. . .
a piece
chocolate is a vegetables as well !
darkenwolf | August 27, 2010 - 19:28
a piece of what? Chocolate? that would be something to see. I think there's a few horses in my family. They certainly look like horses anyway.
And while we're at it what's a vegetable?
;}
Highhat | August 27, 2010 - 19:57
A vegetable has it's root in Mother Nature. That is it regenerates during the winter- ie the roots grow. But chocolates come from the cocao bush and it has roots in the earth ergo chocolate is a vegatable. there is also milk in chocolate- milk provides you with calcium ergo chocolate is very healthy.
a few cows in my family- maybe even a bull- I think they call him Fred.
;)
darkenwolf | August 27, 2010 - 20:06
Not entirely sure but i think your logic is a bit shaky on the chocolate issue. No bulls in my family but there are a couple of goats...
;}
Highhat | August 27, 2010 - 20:22
my logic is very very shaky when it comes to chocolate
;D
I milked a goat-have you tried that?- we drank the milk while it was warm and it tasted so awful we put freshly picked rasberries in it and tried to make a goat milkshake- so I guess there are a few goats in my family as well- I think I'll open a zoo and let my sister take the entrance fee ;0
Oh I forgot my uncle was a kangaroo- bet you don't have kangaroos in your family and snakes?
darkenwolf | August 27, 2010 - 21:08
A goat milkshake? i have this picture of you shaking the goat up and down to get it frothy. Never milked anything in my life; the closest i've come is opening a bottle. definitely no kangaroos but there are a couple of particularly venomous snakes; we don't have much to do with them though - they lower the tone...:D
My family's a veritable menagerie.
Isn't everybody's logic shaky when it comes to chocolate...? And vodka of course.
;}
Kahdai | August 30, 2010 - 22:05
had as much fun reading the comments! goat milk is ok with loads suger in :/ ii know chocolate is cocoa'bean' except what makes cat or dog choccies? hmmm... anyway sorry, was a very good story, I know the feeling and it sounds close to giving up, incase this is real life, she needs a ray of hope shocking enough to get through despair & knitting can be depressive when you get like that, it like saying ok am old now. K
Highhat | August 31, 2010 - 09:01
I think this is a bit of an age thing as well Kahdai- just a bad day I think. Happy to tell you that every day is not like this for her.
Thank you for your comment
pia ;)
Kahdai | September 1, 2010 - 15:48
good! every1s allowed bad days ;)
Highhat | September 1, 2010 - 16:00
It really helped her putting it down in words! Life usually treats her very fairly. The sun is a sort of miracle cure. The rain on end gets anybody down ;)
Kahdai | September 1, 2010 - 16:36
Am always too cold yet am sure, if ii moved somwhere hot, ii would miss all the rain! I think to put sad times in words helps a lot, sortof explains myself & then Ii understand.
Highhat | September 1, 2010 - 16:41
exactly and then you move on . . .
Kahdai | September 2, 2010 - 07:44
yep :)
skinner_jennifer | September 22, 2010 - 16:54
Hi Pia,
Just finished reading your piece, I am so amused by
your twoing and froing back and fourth with Darkenwolf. Just had to say, I completely know what
you mean about apathy, it can take a hold so easily.
It's a real battle everyday, but I find just
getting on with it, is the best idea.
Jenny.
Highhat | September 22, 2010 - 18:06
The battle IS an age thing- that much I have experienced- at least for me- but I usually get on with it too- just have some off days now and again. Too bad- you learn to get through those days and for a while now it has been up times, luckily. That's why I have joy bugs. In answer to you comment - yes I am from Denmark- Pia is actually a very Nordic name even though it origianlly stems from Italy I think. Yes darkenwolf and I had a fun ping pong there- try and see the blog Louise and I have opened now if you go to the poem "Candle Wax"- you can come along as well- would be great fun if you felt like joining ;D
love, peace and happiness to you
pia;)
