I seem to manage
In the nick of time
Someone always saves me
Unless I save myself of course
I have been very lucky
Extremely so
like catching your train
At the last second
Just as your pursuers
Are right at your heels
You jump onto the train
as the doors are closing
And they don’t make it.
You breathe easy
The cash dispenser is empty
And the bus pulls up alongside of you
There are 2 hours until the next bus
You don’t have any money for the fare
The bus driver asks where you are going
And you tell him
Well hop aboard
You get a free ride
escaping from a nightmare
In the dead of night
You arrive at the hostel
And get a bed for the night
Because you missed the last train down south
You are offered coffee and breakfast
And a bath
People are so friendly when you really need them
I should count my blessings
And I do
I suppose being humble is right in tune
I never expected much
But I got it all
In the nick of time

And in the nick of time your poem came on here, just
as I was about to turn off. How strange is that?
You summed it up in one here Pia, can't tell you
how many times, I've managed to get by in the nick
of time. I think it's those guardian angels watching
over you.
Great poem.
Jenny.

I really enjoyed this Pia, hope you don't mind me saying but I think that some of the detail was perhaps unnecessary? Because I felt that I am already aware of what it is to be late for a train.. I wonder if maybe saying 'like catching a train at the last second' is not something we need to be told because your following description lets us see it without needing to be pre-warned? Sorry for the ramble, and believe me I think the poem is really lovely :)

Thanks a lot Sam- it's okay with your crit but you see I wanted people to know that I was being pursued and that is why I caught the train at the last second and escaped in the nick of time- sort of to stress the point. But the critique is taken aboard. I wasn't too pleased with this one but I kept it on despite.
But thank you very much for reading.
cheers

I very much liked the way this was written, the way that it rushed along like a person in a hurry and I also thought that it had a snappy ending.
I have to say I envy you, if this is a true story. I've never really been so fortunate with people.

You know John- I really count my blessings - it is quite true this story- I and my family have been very fortunate when it comes to other people and ofcourse I remember the lucky times much easier - there have been so many and even near death escapes- also on one occassion for my son. Sometimes I consider myself a mountain hiker on the great mountain called Life with all it's nooks and glaciers and snowstorms and hanging cliffs.
Anyway thanks for taking the time out to read.
