The old teapot -IP

We used to drink herbal tea every afternoon when I came home from school. Erik’s freshly home baked whole wheat buns with butter and cheese tasted delicious on the side. This was the time of day when our little family of 3 was gathered to talk about how the day had been up till now.
The tea was made in a large clay teapot which I had paid a fortune for when I fell headlong in love with the beautiful dusty blue and rose coloured flowers on a beige background. It was a huge, round and very heavy pot and I was sure that it would be able to withstand a little of everything.
As the years went by the glazing began to craze and eventually I could say “ that teapot has seen better days”!
It was replaced with a dandy teapot I had purchased in Covent Garden at “The Teapot Shop” where they sold hundreds of teapots and mugs with all different motifs. This particular one was a little house with a thatched roof and the lid was the chimney. It was adorable.
The old teapot was placed high up on top of the kitchen cupboard where it sprawled in honour and dignity for years.
‘ A teapot should be of some use’ I thought, racking my brain when finally I had a bright idea: I planted a flower in it and placed it in the window sill where I could admire it and it would bring back memories of the times when we had our afternoon tea and home baked buns.
So if you don’t know how to make use of your old teapot then ‘ it's as easy as ABC’- you just plant a flower in it.

Hi Pia,
This is the best IP so far, I love it. I had a friend
who used to collect teapots, she got people to bring
them back off their holidays, she had teapots from
all over the world.
You have told a lovely story here and what a good
idea, putting a flower in it. I have a teapot I never
use, I might just go out and buy a cactus to put in it. Thanks for the great read.
Jenny.
