Storm

Feels like a storm
Swept over my life
60’s: man on the moon and The Beatles
Young rebel
70’s
Paper not polythene Pam
Sex not war
Flowers and experiments
Punk and power

All seems quiet in the middle of life
Almost boring
Now
and
again
Slow but mellow

The storm was there
Winds blowing
Colourful leaves
around
The landscape
Setting the scene
for
a
vibrant era

Times are no more placid
as
the
young leaves
shift from place to place
with
the
storm of youth
Ascertaining the contemporary
Living now
with
powerful contrast
to
ageing with reason

Vigour, joie de vivre
Never ending
For
any age
but
Memories
Can flood the mind
with
the
swell of
Big time blues

Flagging the mundane
Lying deeper
Is
your personal experience

It’s
Okay it’s in the past
It’s worth remembering
Think I’ll stop here
a
Minute and reminisce

Pia I know exactly where you're coming from, with this poem. Just like me you like to reminisce, of
a time when life was free and your spirit could
fly wherever it needed.

Now we have to be more careful, my favourite stanza,
is that first one:-

Feels like a storm
Swept over my life
60's: man on the moon and The Beatles
Young rebel
70's
Paper not polythene Pam
Sex not war
Flowers and experiments
Punk and power

Brilliant, love it.

Jenny.

Excellent poem, the structure really works here. It really captures the metaphorical 'storm'. Well done.

So sorry I missed this one, Pia. Am battling some kind of flu virus at present, which hopefully I shall win in the not too distant future.

Well done on the more than deserved cherry, and I could certainly more than identify with it;-)
