Warzone

from the ABC set Poems

I walked into a warzone
unkown

it was dark, I was totally
alone

couldn't see, couldn't speak
a terrible fear, it took
hold

a novice to these weapons
I was useless, pathetic, I was
dumb

objective, knowledgeable, patient
no

I was hysterical, frightened
yes

I walked into a warzone and
ran

back to the daylight and
sun.

powerful, I like the sparse form and how nothing in this is superfluous.

Thank you Maggy and SundaysChild, it's written from personal experience.

Completely missed this Louise - agree with Maggy and Sunday's Child although I can't tell if the warzone is a metaphor or not? (I think it is) :-)

Yes it is :) don't worry I don't get the chance to read much on here at the moment myself, so I miss people's writing a bit, am trying to do a course at the moment :)
