Used to be a Woolworths

I used to get conkers in those woods.
I've not been here for years
the town I was born.

'Used to be a Woolworths' I tell no-one in particular
walking past an empty shop.
A bell rings and school children

run past me. The uniform hasn't really changed.
It is September.
I never realised how many trees there were.

Really liked this, the priorities of children, toys and sweets etc in Woolworths, conkers, having to wear school uniform. Now grown up see there are other trees than just conker trees, other possibilities. Children run past you, as if in a hurry to grow up. You look back. Suprised no cherry
