We lie, entwined, in a cocoon
of steamed glass. Here,
held captive in one slice
of an alternate reality,
protected from the cold world
of sluicing rain.
I pledge a piece of my heart
to you: sole owner.
My promise, never to lease
it to another. Now, stamped
with your seal; a kiss -
your signature. Muse,
it is yours alone. And there,
an eternal torch shall burn.
Now, so scared that, never again,
will one man love me as you do.
You know I always fall
too hard. Soon, they will
be lining up to bre-
ak my heart.
Yet, after every bitter blow,
your golden corner will continue
to glow. Because, you,
no longer the untouchable,
have made this part
of my heart unbreakable.

Absolutely brilliant as always - some people touch us in ways and create something inside us that no one else can ever touch. Keep up the good work.

Thank you, Bruce! You've also put it wonderfully - 'that no one else can ever touch' :)

you are most very welcome - commenting on your work is at the same time both easy and hard:
easy to compliment for it is so deserving of compliments
and hard because it is so hard to do it justice. Keep it up!
:)

*Blushes* You always flatter me too much, Bruce! But I'm glad you enjoy my work so much - it's loyal reviewers like you that keep me writing ;)

This one almost slipped by me, unnoticed;-)
It is yet another beautiful poem and I really admire the effective lined bre/ak in stanzas four and five. A nice touch.
I particularly like these lines:-
"Yet, after ever bitter blow,
your golden corner will continue
to glow."

You articulate what I feel the truth of love is, that piece of heart that will always belong to that one person. I really like this one magic, it's so beautiful! Sorry I am so late commenting, I am the guest editor for the October issue of abctales magazine and it has been keeping me busy, sorry if it delays my commenting on any other poems you post until October :) Well done!

Very evocative as always. I liked the intermittent half and quarter rhymes. And the bre-ak device works well. And the 'sluicing rain' image.

I like the first verse especially,
"Here, held captive in one slice
of an alternate reality,
protected from the cold world
of sluicing rain."

Wonderful. Second stanza is especially epic. Creative line structure.
Last stanza did u mean every? Instead of ever.
Great poem. And energy.
Cheers
