Silent Party

from the ABC set Abc1

Like many before, I pass
The acre of silence,
Watching squirrels play
Between the headstones.

Yet today I think about others like
Me, passing my resting place one day
Without stopping to give me
A minutes thought, and then
For the first time I hear
A land filled with much noise.

Many have been Layed to rest
Here and some sadly forgotten
I am sure, yet they do not
Lie here waiting for the
Living to call.

No, not any more, they
Formed a new family now.
Which may be covered
So no one sees them,
But they still live on
Under the earth's
Floor.

Hi there, Prettyrose. I enjoyed this;-)

Just a minor point, in the second and third stanzas, the 'too' should be 'to', and also in the penultimate line of the last, should be, earth's floor, with an apostrophe.

All the stanzas are lovely, but my favourite is the opening one, which sets the scene, admirably.

"Like many before, I pass
The acre of silence,
Watching squirrels play
Between the headstones"

Enjoyed;-)

Hi Tina :) thank you so much for reading my poem and taking the time to comment.

I take on board what you say and I am sure all who know me by now to realise I am not the best on punctuation and defiantly not when rushed. lol and I tend to rush alot manily due too health.

But I am glad you enjoyed it and if I can make some one smile or help some one in my work then I am happy.

I love my opening paragraph too lol the best :))))

take care
