The ambush is laid,
The waiting begins,
The innocents come
unaware of the sin,
There's tearing
and ripping,
hot blood is let,
Her heart is pure evil,
green eyed pussycat.
The ambush is laid,
The waiting begins,
The innocents come
unaware of the sin,
There's tearing
and ripping,
hot blood is let,
Her heart is pure evil,
green eyed pussycat.

At first I thought this was a brave traverse on the battle field for Napoleon and whoever but a tiny puddy cat- great. thank you for the soaring heights.

That's why I have dogs, they are too ...well, thick actually, to kill anything ;) Nice piece that had me confused until the end ;)

Wonderful little snapshot, Shirley! I've always wanted a cat - though not sure I could cope with her bringing in bloodied birds and mice every night ;)

Yes, they can be little devils that way. My daughter's cat made quite a speciality of bring in bats, of all things...the winged kind I mean;-) And was forever phoning up the 'bat rescue lady' to come and collect them.
I digress, Shirley, sorry. An enchanting poem;-)

Thanks Chris, yes, Labs seem to be both smart and daft at the same time, mine once cornered a rabbit then sat and looking from it to me in total confusion!

Thanks Magic, of my three, only Columbus is the hunter, one is much too lazy to even try and the third too old, luckily it is rare now to find a little body!

Tina, I now have a mental image of a cat trying to drag a cricket bat through the cat flap!:~D

David, I wrote this for the Evil I.P some weeks ago and decided it didn't really meet the criteria, I came across it again and now I'm pleased I posted it,
Thanks for your delightful comment. xx

Aaw! I actually thought of a cat waiting to pounce as I read the first lines, surprised it really was a cat though! I had a hunting-cat Mihti once brought a pigeon into the kitchen & it could still fly around, Nightmare cleaning up after it! Really like this poem shoe, you might think it a strange favourite, still it gets a Kahdai-cherry! K xx
