Votives spring to life
on the windowsill...
dance a minuet
to Mozart.
We share
wine...cigarettes
and secrets, well into
the evening
she traces shadows
on my face with her
fingertips – I follow
the stutter of her eyelids.
There was too much
pain today, she tells me....
and the snow-white
feathers by the hedge
too much to take.
The fall of a dove –
only the smallest
of happenings,
as we sit and watch
sunset over the bay;
hope, eclipsing
ink-black water.

Stutter of her eyelids - but not only that, all wonderful descriptive writing Tina - sensous and claustrophobic if that makes sense. :-)

what a wonderful image Tina. I enjoyed this-Mozart was such a genius- did you see Amadeus? 400 years and still going strong. Pretty clever , eh?

Ah yes - very wonderful. Just like night-music and amazing last three lines. A good antidote to a dull rainy day.

Well, that's an optimistic note to end on. I like poems that tell stories, which this one does rather effortlessly. Nice!

Thanks for reading this one, Julie.
And you remembered our anniversary. Thanks, so much.
We have to pinch ourselves to think it was forty-four years ago today we tied that knot. A lot has happened since then; for worse and more importantly, for the better, so we have much to be thankful for.
Shall pass on your good wishes to my other half and thanks again;-) Have a lovely weekend.
